Biography this week:

The subject of today's biography is a well respected figure in many parts of the world, but despised in many others.

He grew up in oil rich dessert terrain, the son of a wealthy and powerful yet corrupt family that made much of its money off of oil. He was of course highly religious and seemed to see the world solely through the views of his own race and religion and culture.

Such a focused view certainly gave him reason to oppose almost any perceived opponent. He was a staunch enemy of the USSR and slowly became more and more revered by the zealotrous religious right wing.

Many of the causes he championed involved violence used to hold back progress, such as scientific research or women's rights. Women especially were deprived of rights by the right wing ideals that he promoted, and institutions that dared to aid women in excersising their freedom were often blown up by those who shared his goals.

When the call to battle came this man rose to the challenge so to speak. He began ordering his minions to commit bombings and terrible assaults, even on civilian targets. In this man's mind it's ok to do anything to people as long as they have different religious beliefs. He somehow believed that this was all for the greater good. He often stated that it was all the will of a supreme deity.

Attempts were made on his life because of his actions, but the wiley fellow always managed to survive somehow to go on to commit another massive bombing somewhere else. He is a very resiliant figure made all the more powerful by his complete unwillingness to listen to any views but his own radicalized right wing allies. In fact many other allies who share common goals with him have shied away from him due to his zealotry and his willingness to kill civilians and ignore international law to further his goals.
